NISSAN-Nano ISS Antenna - demonstration of the unfurling of a special antenna under conditions of microgravity in the Space Station
Daniel Rockenberg, NSLComm, Efi Ksantini and Ido Dagan
The NSLComm start-up develops wideband telecommunication nano-satellites. The technology is based on a space-deployed antenna made of proprietary flexible materials. In Earth-gravity conditions, the antenna is structurally unstable. Therefore the experiment of deploying and testing its shape has to be done in a microgravity environment. These conditions can only be created in a special aircraft maneuvering in the atmosphere, however these conditions last no longer than 20 seconds. An experiment under prolonged microgravity conditions is essential for completing the antenna proving stage.
